Lavell Wood

Assistant Principal, Harriet Tubman Middle School

Lavell Wood is an Assistant Principal at Harriet Tubman Middle School in Portland Public Schools and a racial equity leader, facilitating conversations about race with various organizations throughout Portland.

Lavell earned his MS, in Elementary Special Education from Portland State University where he also earned his initial administrative license. Lavell is part of the African American Leadership Academy, alumni where he has honed his skills to be a transformative leader for the Black community.

Growing up in Albuquerque, NM, Lavell enjoyed reading picture books. He felt more “grown up” when he read his first chapter book.
